Hey everyone, I’ve been dealing with something lately and wasn’t sure where to turn for advice. My sister has been the primary caregiver for our dad in Philadelphia for almost a year now, helping with everything from meals to doctor visits. She loves him, but I can see she’s getting exhausted — like she’s always on, even when she’s off. She tried to tell me she’s fine, but last week she cried because she felt like she couldn’t keep up two full-time jobs (her actual job + caregiving). I came across an article about caregiver burnout and it really made me wonder if what she’s experiencing is more common than I thought. Has anyone here dealt with this or found ways to cope?Jan 13th, 7:54 am -

That sounds incredibly familiar, and yes — what your sister is going through is way more common than people admit. In our family, my wife took care of her mom for almost two years, and the emotional load was heavier than the physical work. She kept saying she was “okay” until one day she just shut down from exhaustion. What helped us was realizing that bringing in outside help wasn’t a failure, but a way to protect everyone involved. We started looking at local home care options in Philly just to ease the pressure, and one of the resources that helped us understand what kind of support exists was https://carepointpa.com/caregiver-burnout/ caregiver burnout . Even having someone come a few hours a week made a noticeable difference in her stress level.Jan 13th, 8:40 am -

I don’t have personal experience with caregiving, but I’ve seen it up close with some friends and neighbors. It’s crazy how quickly helping a loved one can take over your whole life if you’re not careful. Even just talking to someone or finding local support groups seems to make a big difference. Threads like this are really helpful because it reminds people they’re not alone, and it’s okay to ask for help before you completely burn out.Jan 13th, 9:03 am
